He is covered in webMD magazine in Europe and also being awarded for his services to society by Union Health Minister, Union minister MSME and Governor of Odisha. Dr. Ashok has done many research and innovation in the field of Gastroenterology and now currently working as a head of department at Narayana Hospital. Previously he was associate professor at prestigious ILBS New Delhi.

Gastroenterology is the study of conditions affecting the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, and liver as well as their normal function. 

It requires a thorough understanding of the physiology of the gastrointestinal organs and their typical functions, which include the motility—or movement—of substances through the stomach and intestines, the digestion and absorption of nutrients into the body, the elimination of waste products from the system, and the role of the liver as a digestive organ. 

It comprises prevalent and significant illnesses such hepatitis, gastric reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, colitis, gallbladder and biliary tract disease, nutritional issues, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), colon polyps, and cancer.
